CHICAGO– May 29, 2018 – Colonel (IL) Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Rhttpetired), a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist, and the CEO of TAWANI Enterprises, an organization specializing in the development, investment, management and preservation of real estate properties, was selected by Norwich University to have her name engraved on a memorial staircase in commemoration of Norwich University’s bicentennial in 2019.
As part of Norwich’s Bicentennial, stairs will be constructed between the southeast corner of the Upper Parade Ground and the Sullivan Museum and History Center. The 78 names selected for this monument include Norwich’s leaders, distinguished alumni and others from military and civilian careers and those who represent ‘firsts’ at the university. The Bicentennial Stairs are part of Norwich’s $100 million Forging the Future campaign. The largest fundraising effort in the university’s history, the focus of the campaign is on creating a state-of-the-art learning environment, strengthening academic programming and growing scholarship endowments.
Fittingly, the largest campaign in Norwich’s history began with the university’s largest-ever donation. In April 2013, former Trustee Colonel Jennifer Pritzker, IL ARNG (Ret.) H’07, president of the TAWANI Foundation, committed $25 million to the Norwich University bicentennial campaign in a successful challenge match to current and former university board members.
Pritzker is one of 78 leaders, distinguished alumni and others from military and civilian careers recognized for making significant contributions to the development and legacy of the University in its second century. The staircase will be formally dedicated in a groundbreaking ceremony at Norwich University May 31.
“Col. Pritzker embodies the best of what a civic leader can do to have a positive impact on students. She is a person of enormous heart and great integrity. We are deeply grateful for her extraordinary efforts and ongoing partnership with the University,” said Norwich University President, Dr. Richard W. Schneider. “Her name memorialized on our staircase is a tribute and daily reminder of those who personify Norwich Founder Capt. Partridge’s ideals and exemplify Norwich’s mission “to make moral, patriotic, effective and useful citizens.”
TAWANI Enterprises represent a dynamic portfolio of iconic brands, including Stone Heritage Collection, TAWANI’s hospitality arm of thoughtfully designed lodging and event spaces, the Pritzker Military Museum and Library, the TAWANI Foundation, the Pritzker Military Foundation and TAWANI Property Management and TAWANI Property Development. Properties under the Stone Heritage Collection includes Stone Terrace, Stone Porch by the Lake, Lang House, The Emil Bach House, Mayne Stage and The Lincoln Way Inn.
“I’m incredibly humbled to be recognized by Norwich University with such a prestigious event. I have such high regard for the University’s work and dedication to advancing education in America,” said Col. Pritzker, who holds an honorary doctorate from Norwich University and serves as a Trustee Emerita. “It is even more inspiring to be honored alongside others who have significantly contributed to the success and positive collegiate experience of Norwich University students.”
The Pritzker Military Foundation also supports the Colby Award, a prize awarded annually by Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., to a first solo work of fiction or nonfiction that has made a major contribution to the understanding of military history, intelligence operations or international affairs. The Colby Award is presented at Norwich University’s Annual Military Writers’ Symposium.
